Single dose therapy of vaginal candidiasis with Tioconazole (Gyno-Trosyd^(¢ç)) vaginal ointment.



Abstract
A clinical study of single dose therapy of vaginal candidiasis with Tioconazole vaginal ointment has been carried out in 30 patients from September 1, 1984 to April 30, 1985. The clinical results obtained were as follows;
1. The age distribution showed that the majority was between 20 and 30 (66.7%), and
tree great number of patients had one or two children (53.3%).
2. The concomitant vaginal pruritus was eliminated in 89.5%, vaginal burning in 87.5%, and vaginal discharge in 86.4% of the cases.
3. The erythema of vulva and vagina was eliminated in 86.7%, excoriation of vulva and vagina in 83.3%, vaginal discharge in 81.5%, and erosion of cervix in 76.9% of the cases.
4. The majority of infending organiam was Candida albicans (93.3%).
5. The initial hormonal situation did not affect the result of therapy.
6. The cure rate confirmed by negative culture and improved clinical symptoms and signs was 93.3% after initial therapy and 96. 6% after re-treatment.
7. There was no undesirable adverse clinical effects of laboratory findings.
